Stream is Brita's answer to waiting for a jug to drip through: the water is filtered on the way out rather than on the way in, so the pitcher is usable immediately. The trade-off is contact time, and contact time is what does the filtering. Stream cartridges are certified for chlorine taste and odour and little else, and they are not interchangeable with Standard or Elite in either direction.

What it removes — and what it does not
Reduces
Does not reduce
Listed because it is the more useful half. Every cartridge on the market reduces chlorine taste; what separates them is what they leave behind.
Independently audited against a named standard by a certification body such as NSF, WQA or IAPMO, with the listing published and the factory subject to inspection. This is the strongest claim available.

How long does a Brita Stream cartridge last?
Rated at 40 gallons (151 L) · 2 months.
That is a throughput figure rather than a calendar one. Hard water and heavy use both exhaust a cartridge sooner than the box suggests.

Will a Brita MAXTRA PRO filter fit instead?
No. Brita MAXTRA PRO is the same brand but a different fitting, and the two do not interchange in either direction.
This is the most common mistake in the Brita range, and there is no adapter.
