About FilterJug.com

Find the filter that fits your jug

FilterJug.com exists because the water filter jug is one of the few kitchen products where the thing you buy once matters far less than the thing you buy forever. A jug is a jug. The cartridge is the product, you will buy four to six of them a year for as long as you own it, and the manufacturers have made working out which one fits harder than it needs to be.

That confusion is deliberate in places. Cartridge families are renamed between generations while the jug stays the same shape. The same jug is sold under a different model name in a different country. Compatible third-party cartridges exist and work, and the packaging on the branded ones would rather you did not know that. Filtration claims are made against test standards that most readers have never heard of and cannot easily check.

So this site is organised the way the problem actually presents itself: start from the jug you already own, find every cartridge that fits it, and see what each one is certified to reduce rather than what the box implies. Where the evidence is a published certification we cite the standard. Where it is our judgement, we say it is judgement.

The site is global. Water is not — hardness, contaminants and which brands are even sold vary enormously by country — so where something is only true in one market, the page says which.

How the site is organised

Three ways in. Start from the jug you own and get the cartridges that fit it. Start from a cartridge and see every jug it fits, plus the ones it emphatically does not. Or start from what is wrong with your water and see which cartridges have real evidence behind them for that specific problem.

Jug or pitcher?

Called a water filter pitcher in the US and Canada, and a filter jug almost everywhere else. Same product, same filters.

We lead with "jug" because it is the name on the door. Where a page is likely to be read mostly in North America, it says pitcher.
